The Doctor

The Doctor attended The Poughkeepsie Institute of Technical Science or, as it is colloquially referred to, The Pits. His thesis paper "It's Far to Early to Tell" has been used in classrooms as an example of how NOT to formulate a medical science theory. The Doctor was previously employed in Mallorca, Spain as a master of ceremonies and first aid provider at local wine tastings before joining the Tuesday Night Cigar Club.
  • Film Review – Necropolis Legion (2019)

Tuesday Night Cigar Club chairman Matthew Cade conjured up an opportunity for The Doctor to view an advanced screening of Necropolis: Legion from director Christ Alexander and Full Moon Features. A marketing snippet on IMDB described the film as a “re-imagining of the 1986 Empire Pictures exploitation movie classic”...
  • Film Review – Trick (2019)

The frost has settled on the pumpkin. As any faithful fan of the Tuesday Night Cigar Club not currently suffering from delirium tremens well knows, The Doctor loves his horror movies. Should they take place after the autumnal equinox, more’s the better. Hence, when TNCC chairman Cade suggested that...
  • Film Review – Candy Corn (2019)

Perhaps it is still summer in Texas on the night of this writing, but the strongly attuned of sense can feel the orange tinge of autumn vibrating passionately over the horizon… ah, who am I kidding, it’s still ninety-five degrees and that “tinge of autumn vibrating” phrase was elegant...

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum The Doctor gave up on superhero and comic book-themed movies long ago, although I admit the trailer for the upcoming Joker movie looks intriguing. Probably because I, too, like to put on a happy face and have been accused of being north of...
  • Film Review – The Intruder (2019)

The Intruder The end of the school year always causes The Doctor to wistfully recall my own school days, a time whensummer vacations were a tangible reality that involved sunscreen application, the pungent aroma of newly chopped grass, and the sight of bikini-clad young ladies lounging in the shade...
  • Film Review – Pet Sematary (2019)

Saying Stephen King is a prolific writer would be like saying Mike Trout is good at baseball. The very definition of an understatement. King has written over fifty books, all of them bestsellers, and most of them eventually being adapted for the silver screen. Some of the resulting movies...
