The Doctor

The Doctor attended The Poughkeepsie Institute of Technical Science or, as it is colloquially referred to, The Pits. His thesis paper "It's Far to Early to Tell" has been used in classrooms as an example of how NOT to formulate a medical science theory. The Doctor was previously employed in Mallorca, Spain as a master of ceremonies and first aid provider at local wine tastings before joining the Tuesday Night Cigar Club.
  • Film Review – Glass (2019)

Apologies are due for what I intend to be a brief opening rant. Feel free to skip to the “Glass” subheading below, but for those otherwise inclined I would share an observation or two about the evils of going to the movies on a Saturday. As your favorite Doctor...
  • Film Review – The Last Laugh (2019)

Before I commence a brief dissertation on the recent Netflix release The Last Laugh starring the now-septuagenarians Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfuss, I would like to take a moment to reflect upon a portion of the Chase filmography. In the glorious, inimitable decade known as the 1980’s, Chevy Chase...
  • Film Review – What Still Remains (2018)

I was tempted late of one afternoon to finally take the Bird Box plunge and see what all the hullaballoo was about, but I could not overcome a mild trepidation at the 124 minute running time… and then when I heard that a few people had taken to wearing...

My God, what have I agreed to do now? For many of The Doctor’s generation, the numbers 90120 contain a special meaning. It was a part of my life for so many years and through so many adventures. What drinking man worth his weight in tequila salt would not...
  • Film Review – Hot Bot (2016)

I was relaxing in my laboratory late of one scorching afternoon and thinking about watching The Shape of Water – really, I was thinking about it – when TNCC chairman Matthew Cade informed me that a recent title was available on Netflix that The Doctor might be interested in...
  • Film Review – The First Purge (2018)

Who amongst us is ready for a good purging? A quick recap of the history of The Purge movies seems in order. A political party known as the New Founding Fathers of America – the NFFA – has taken power in America and maintained a stranglehold on the Presidency....
