Episode 62 – Killing Gunther (2017) / Daniel Marshall Red Label cigar / Paulaner Salvator Doppel Bock

I love Arnold, I've always loved Arnold. The man doesn't give a damn about anything other than what HE wants to do in the here and now, public perception be damned, and that's ballsy. That's respectable. His legacy is cemented so he can do whatever crazy shit he wants...

With all the craziness going on in Hollywood these days, it’s damn near impossible to sit around and talk movies without discussing the highly sensitive subject of sexual harassment and its impact on culture and society as a whole. Having said that, I think whenever the TNCC gathers together we always handle any topic with the grace and seriousness that it deserves. Having said that, our attorney insisted we start posting the following on all of our materials put out there for public consumption –

RED LABEL by DANIEL MARSHALL

The Daniel Marshall Red Label features a very slick Colorado shade wrapper with minimal veins and an oily sheen that screams high-quality wrapper leaf. Upon ignition there’s the slightest sense of pepper on the nose while the draw (which construction-wise is perfect) just delivers loads of a rich quality semisweet tobacco note. That natural tobacco sweetness was by far the most memorable trait of the Red Label when we first reviewed it on Episode 9 way back in 2015.

As the smoking experience continues, there’s a bready note and a cinnamon flavor on the retrohale and that creaminess on the draw joins it which makes blowing smoke out your nose A MUST with this stogie. And the aroma is spectacular. While the ash does tend to drop every inch or so (your pants will thank us for the warning), no relights were necessary and construction remained impressive throughout. This updated version of the Red Label shows a bit of nuance that our previously reviewed version did not and we all give it an enthusiastic thumbs up.

SALVATOR DOPPEL BOCK by PAULANER BRAUEREI GMBH & CO

The Paulaner Salvator Doppel Bock pours amber red, slightly unfiltered, and it’s a beautiful pour to behold. Tut and I agreed that THIS is what we wish red ales would taste like! The viscous Paulaner Salvator Double Bock presents a creamy smooth profile initially and it’s so easy drinking it’s almost scary. According to Yak Boy the German Monks did substitute this beer as a food source during their fasts and I can get behind that philosophy 110%! Malty, creamy, high ABV, well balanced, what’s not to like?

KILLING GUNTHER (2017)

Possibly the most misleading poster in recent memory… but we drink a lot so our memories aren’t quite what they used to be.

I love Arnold, I’ve always loved Arnold. The man doesn’t give a damn about anything other than what HE wants to do in the here and now, public perception be damned, and that’s ballsy. That’s respectable. His legacy is cemented so he can do whatever crazy shit he wants. It’s always a good time when we discuss an Arnold movie on the show and tonight, even though we were duped into believing we were watching “an Arnold movie”, was no exception. It’s just extremely disheartening to think you’re going to spend 90 minutes with this guy

and it ends up being all about this guy

yeah, I know, it’s a BIG difference. However, there were some of us at the table who enjoyed the film despite its anemic amount of Arnold footage. Personally I thought if the editors had strayed from the screenplay and just cut the film differently once they saw just how fantastic the Arnold material was it would’ve certainly turned my thumbs down into a thumbs up. Needless to say, we really dig into this film like only the TNCC can so what are you waiting for? Click on the link below to watch or listen to the show right NOW. Do it! Do it now!!!

THE NUB

We hope you enjoy tonight’s show, God knows we got our recommended daily dose of laughs in (and then some). Now I’m going to kick back, light up a stogie, and watch a real Arnold film to cleanse my palate. Hell, I think I’d settle for a viewing of Batman & Robin and I swore to myself that I’d never watch that sucker again… Now everyone CHILL!

Click image above to see what the TNCC would like to do to Kiling Gunther’s writer/director Taran Killam…

Please leave us comments on the YouTube episode page, provide us with a review on iTunes, or be a real stud and do both! All these seemingly small gestures would be greatly appreciated as they let us know exactly what you’re thinking about this sweat soaked tidal wave of hardbodied insanity we like to call The Tuesday Night Cigar Club.

Hasta la vista motherfuckers!!!

Below is tonight’s full episode for both your viewing and listening pleasure. Thank you for checking out The Tuesday Night Cigar Club and we’ll see you next time when we review another cigar, adult beverage, and film. May the wings of liberty never lose a feather…
